So, what does all of this mean to you?
Ceramic coatings are the new WAX. Though costing more than wax, they are literally 20x more effective. The reason they cost more is all in the prep work.
Before the ceramic coating can be applied, paint correction must occur. The reason for this is simple. Whatever you apply the coating over top of will be encapsulated for up to 5 years. That’s any contaminant or paint blemish and swirl. To prevent this, we remove all of the scratches and swirls otherwise they become permanent and unfortunately magnified by the coating itself which works like a magnifying glass once it is applied and hardens.
A wax may only last 2 car washes depending on the detergent used in the wash process, leaving your car completely unprotected almost immediately following your detail, there are waxes out there that last 6-9 months depending on how the car is washed and those are still a good route to go for certain vehicles but if you’re keeping the vehicle for an extended period of time the ceramic is worth the money. Especially when you take into account the cost of paint correction which in western pa could need done once a year, if you do it one time and ceramic coat the car it won’t need done for 5 years.
